Biodiversity – Zero oil spill
Cleaner Energy for Marine Operations
We are committed to reducing fossil fuel dependence and lowering GHG emissions in our marine activities through the use of alternative energy sources and operational efficiencies.
- Use of Biodiesel
Since 2019, all our vessels operating in Indonesia have been running on biodiesel. By 2022, we upgraded to B30, which contains 30% biofuel—up from 20% in 2019—demonstrating our ongoing efforts toward cleaner fuel adoption. - Shore Power Connection for Docked Vessels
To eliminate the use of diesel-powered auxiliary engines during berthing, vessels are connected to shore electricity. This initiative results in 100% fuel savings during docking periods and contributes significantly to reducing emissions from port activities.
Energy-Saving Initiatives
Operational and Facility Energy Efficiency Measures. To reduce dependence on fossil fuels and cut energy use, we have implemented several practical initiatives:
- Installation of energy-saving LED lights
- Regulated lighting schedules during operational hours
- Power outage programs and turning off unused equipment
- Use of hydrocarbon refrigerant AC units to replace freon
- Fuel-efficient use of operational vehicles strictly for business purposes
Air Emissions Control Programs
To improve air quality and reduce environmental impact, we have enacted multiple emission control measures:
- Dedicated smoking rooms to localize emissions
- Routine vehicle emissions testing
- Regular chimney emission monitoring
- Implementation of an Emission Control System (ECS)
Water Efficiency Efforts and Achievement
The Company has a waste water management policy to reduce the impact of environmental pollution. The Company consistently implements several programs to reduce water consumption, including:
- Regularly monitor and evaluate water use by relevant departments;
- Repairing waterways immediately in case of a leak;
- Carrying out campaigns and appeals to save water; also
- Using an automatic water faucet.
Waste Management
To foster a green work environment, the Company fully supports initiatives aimed at reducing single-use plastic consumption as part of its commitment to the zero waste to landfill movement. In line with this, several policy initiatives have been implemented, including encouraging employees to bring their own food containers and drink bottles, as well as tote bags.
Additionally, the Company has provided adequate waste bins throughout office and factory areas to promote responsible waste management.
Environmental Certifications
Each vessel in the fleet has systems in place for environmental management which have been certified with the relevant certificates in compliance with the MARPOL convention for the prevention of pollution from ships, as shown in the table below:
- International Certificate of Prevention of Pollution by Oil
- International Certificate of Prevention of Pollution by Air
- Garbage Management Plan
- Ballast System
- International Sewage Pollution Prevention Certificate (ISPP)
- Anti-Fouling System Certificate
- International Energy Efficiency Certificate (IECC)
